Peculiarities of Interrelation between Social Views on Profession and Self-actualization of Students’ Personality

Abstract: 

The article presents the results of theoretical and empirical studies of peculiarities of interrelation between modern students’ social views on profession and the level and various meaningful characteristics of their self-actualization. The article shows that personal self-actualiza­tion in profession can be viewed from the point of view of theory of social views, which allows to take into consideration the socio-cultural context. The article reveals the interrelation between social views on profession and dynamics of students’ self-actualization. It presents the results of empirical research, carried out on the students’ sample (n = 30; 17–19 years old; first, second and third-year students of the Institute of additional professional education, specialization «Man­agement») with the use of the following diagnostic tools: projective essay on the topic «My views on profession», dynamics of personal self-actualization test CAT (L. E. Gozman, Y. E. Aleshina, M. V. Zagica, M. V. Kroz). The article shows that in the process of training students undergo changes in the system of interconnection between self-actualization and views on profession. First-year students’ optimistic views on profession are supported by a fairly high indices for different scales of self-actualization. During the second year ambivalent views on profession are supported by the decline for some scales of self-actualization. During the third year indicators of self-actualization are rising, and views on profession are taking a skeptical orientation. The applied aspect of the problem under study can be implemented in counseling practice of psychological services.
