Abstract:

The article discusses the results of an empirical study, and characterizes the marked value-semantic orientation peculiarities in students. In the course of the study of value-meaning orientation of the personality we used a set of valid and reliable tools to reveal the main types of orientation, the dominant values and attitudes of the personality in need-motivational sphere. The study shows that a specific set of the value-meaning and need-motivational characteristics forms the pragmatic-professional, social-communicative and individually-egoistic types of value-meaning orientation of the personality describing the attitude of the subject towards reality and self. The pragmatic-professional type is dominated by the values: labor productivity, money and process. The least attractive for them is the value of power. The respondents with the social-communicative value-meaning orientation have as their core values altruism, efficiency, and money. A distinctive feature of the individually-egoistic type of value-meaning orientation are such values as egocentricity, power, money and freedom. The patterns and mechanisms of the manifestation of value-meaning orientation in students identified in the study will help to develop correctional harmonizing programs aimed at optimizing the socially important values and attitudes of the individual.
