The study is relevant due to the necessity to substantiate the signifi cance of values in the regulation of social relations in current complex social conditions. The study purpose is to analyze the influence of modern values on the social and psychological components in the regulation of social relations including institutional trust, values and goals of society, assertiveness, social and moral norms, and attitude to law. The study hypothesizes that the values of equality, social interdependence, and work activity are decisive in the regulation of social relations. The values of the hierarchy hinder the normal and harmonious development of social relations. Participants: N = 166, aged 20 to 47 years old (M = 41.79, SD = 0.54; 27 males, 139 females), including 26.79% of medical workers, teachers, and managers, 15% of lawyers, 32.8% of psychologists, and 25.34% of university students (St. Petersburg). Methods (tools): the questionnaire “Assessment of legal relations” (D. S. Beznosov) was used to identify the components of the regulation of social relations; the Schwartz Value Ranging Scale was used to determine the system of values; and the Lie Scale (by M. K. Akimova) was used to identify the indicator of social desirability. Results: the study has proven that the respondents highly appreciate the values of equality, work, social autonomy, and social interdependence. The values of hierarchy (power, influence, and authority) tuned out to be of less signifi cance. It has been identifi ed that the predictors of a responsible attitude towards the goals and values of society are the values of work and social interdependence. Main conclusions: values are a multifaceted concept that combines epistemological and ontological indicators, as well as material and ideal components. Values are closely connected to relationships, as a relationship is a mental experience of the value, meaning, and significance of an object for a person. The values of equality, social interdependence, and work are of great importance in regulating social relations. The values of social interdependence are crucial in regulating social relations. Practical signifi ance: the results obtained can be used in the development of psychological support for the programs in the fi eld of social relations management.
