New Forms of Interaction with Students: the Scientific and Educational Festival «The Week of Pedagogical Education» in Saratov State University

Abstract: 

The article presents the experience of creating new forms of interaction between students, university teachers and school teachers in order to increase the interest of young people in a teaching profession. It demonstrates how to organize their communication so that in the polylogue they can exchange views on very acute and controversial issues for the education system, to see and hear each other’s opinions. As a new form of interaction between teachers of different generations, the educational and research festival “The Week of Pedagogical Education” proved to be effective. All events of the “Week” include elements of discussion and controversy. The interactive activities are conducted in the form of authors’ discussion sites moderated by SSU lecturers and school practitioners, open polemic dialogues between scholars and experts, presentations of the authors’ interpretations of the well-known pedagogical facts and phenomena, demo lessons and extracurricular events, round tables moderated by young specialists sharing the challenges of teaching, an international contest of teaching mastery “A Step into Profession”, the University Olympiad in pedagogy for bachelor and master students of pedagogy. The novelty of these forms is provided by their modernized internal structure and methodological foundations on which the whole “The Week of Pedagogical Education” is built: the principles of openness, variability, dialogue, pedagogical support and guidance. The authors provide specific examples of the issues and topics discussed during “The Week of Pedagogical Education” since 2013.
