Dynamics of Cadets’ Notion of a Military Career in the Process of Military-Professional Socialization

Abstract: 

The goal of the research presented in the paper is an empirical study of the dynamic changes of the image of a military career at various stages of the military professional socialization of an individual. The hypothesis of the study is the assumption that the notion of the military career among the cadets of the military institution of higher education is different depending on the stage of military professional socialization (1st–5th academic years). The research was carried out on the sample of cadets of the 1st–5th academic years from the military institution of higher education (N = 255, the average age is 20.2 years old, male) using the original questionnaire “What is a military career in your understanding?”. The article presents the most significant notion factors about the military career, which include “possibility of professional-cognitive development”, “guaranteed material and social security”, “possibility of selfrealization”; we analyzed the dynamics of notions about the military career, depending on the stage of military professional socialization of the individual. It was established that the dynamics of indicators at each stage of military professional socialization is not identical even for scales combined in each of the factors identified. The obtained results can be used in professional-psychological selection of military students from military institutions.
