The “Teacher” Concept in the Consciousness of Students of the Faculty of Education
The relevance of the study is determined by the search for means of psycholinguistic evaluation of the level of professional competence of students of the faculty of education. One of the tools is the modelling of the structure of professionally significant concepts based on the results of a free associative experiment. The purpose of the research: to reconstruct the “teacher” concept in the consciousness of future primary school teachers based on the survey of informants – students of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical and Special Education. According to the working hypothesis, the expressiveness of the conceptual features belonging to different layers of the concept (conceptual, objective, appraisal, figurative), indicates the nature of ideas about future pedagogical activity – speculative, practice-oriented or evaluative. 56 senior students took part in the experiment. The resulting associations were structured in accordance with the author’s model of the concept, which includes the conceptual, objective, figurative, associative and value layers. The results of the obtained model were compared with the concept of «teacher» according to the Russian Associative Dictionary of Schoolchildren of the city of Saratov and Saratov Oblast. It is found that the conceptual component of the concept is actualized in the consciousness of future teachers, its evaluation layer is certainly positive, which indicates the formation of the motivational component of vocational training. The objective layer of the concept, associated with the activity component, is presented in the individual reactions of students. The results of the study make it possible to adjust the process of professional training of future teachers.
