Social Expectations in Personal Evolution and Development
The article presents the results of studying social expectations of a personality. It emphasizes the significance and shows the role of social expectations as one of the major understudied psychological phenomena. The influence of this phenomenon can be traced at all stages of socialization and development of a personality in the ontogenic and professional aspects. The study reveals peculiarities of children’s and adults’ expectations. The article suggests that junior school age is the most sensitive age, which means that it is the most suitable age for formation and socialization of social expectations of a personality. The author comes to the conclusion that social expectations can act as a foundation component of the system of personal behavior regulation, which promotes its evolution and development as an object of self-activity.
