Abstract:

We present the data of the theoretical analysis of psychological indicators that reveal the specifics of choosing movies by the youth spectators, clarify the meaning of cinema myths in the formation of role models and justifying the correctness of one’s life scenarios. We present the results of empirical research carried out on a sample of students (N = 99, aged 20–23) with the use of diagnostic tools: author questionnaire, the «Who am I in this world» technique (V. V. Novikov), the technique to study the level of subjective control (E. F. Bazhin, E. A. Golynkina, L. M. Etkind). We identified six varieties of cinema myths with different emotional, cognitive and behavioral characteristics that determined their popularity among the audience. We determined the internal psychological indicators that reveal the specifics of the choice of cinema myths by the young audience, as well as clarify the role of cinema myths in forming role models.
