Life-Purpose Orientations of Spouses from the Migrant Workers’ Families Under Conditions of Long-Term Separation

Autors:
Gritsenko Valentina V., Smolensk Humanitarian University
Abstract:

The article presents the results of the empirical research of life-purpose orientations, gained from the sample of work migrant and non-migrant families’ spouses (N = 329) selected with D. A. Leontyev’s method. It was found out that male migrants have statistically smaller values compared to their wives and non-migrant spouses according to the general rate of life meaningfulness, for «Life goals», «Process of life», «Locus of control – life» scales, demonstrating the low level of future-oriented thinking, dissatisfaction with the present and weak hope for achieving their life goals. At the same time, their past experience gives them a purpose of life («Productivity of life»), they derive their strength from it and feel strong and capable of controlling their own lives («Locus of control – I»).
