The paper analyzes the results of an empirical study of social representations of young people in general, norms and values of behavior, adaptation capabilities of young people among representatives of different generations. The comparative analysis of submissions to the group of young adults and adults.

Various sociocultural, value-related and normative contexts of individual and group existence are simultaneously supported by the postmodern society. Their mismatch is partly responsible for intra- and interpersonal conflicts and crises in the system of relations. Therefore, nowadays researchers stay focused on the problem of systematizing the subject’s ideas about other people and other social phenomena.

The article views the interrelation between strategies of coping with stress, satisfaction with social support and the ideas of elderly people about conscience, which act as a reflection of the assertion of moral values in the respondent’s daily life. The study involved 55 elderly people, whose average age was 62.4 years, among them 40 women and 15 men.
