Socio-Psychological Well-Being of Children in Megapolis : the Methodological Foundations of Research

The article presents the theoretical and methodological rationale for the empirical study of socio-psychological well-being of children living in the city. Macro- and micro-social factors of the megapolisare considered. Among them are: the objective living conditions (the district, type of housing, dwelling comfort level and so on), social and socio-psychological characteristics of the family and parents (the economic status of the family, the families residence term in the metropolis and so on). Characteristics of the child as a determinant of socio-psychological well-being are studied. Indicators of sociopsychological well-being of children are revealed. Analysis of the studies revealed the existence of a link between the formation level of autonomy and self-control in children and the conditions of their stay in the city. Readiness of self-control is a psychological prerequisite for the formation of the child's positive relationships with parents, peers, significant adults at the stage of primary socialization.
