Personalyty Factors and Professional Effectiveness among Managers in a Commercial Organization

Abstract: 

The article discusses the problem of the relation between professional effectiveness and personal traits (at the example of the «Big Five» factors). The results of the empirical study carried out in a commercial organization are presented. A total of 313 store managers of clothing and accessories shops took part in the research, including 82 male and 231 female. The age of the respondents was from 21 to 42 years. The work experience of the managers was no less than one year. The personality traits were measured by the «Five-Factor Questionnaire» adapted by M. Bodunov and S. Biryukov. Per cent of targets achieved in 2014–2015 years was used to determine the professional effectiveness, as well as expert estimates obtained using the feedback 360 degree. The results of correlation analysis suggest that a professional effectiveness of managers has the strongest positive relations with conscientiousness and extroversion, regardless of the method of the professional effectiveness measurement.
