Use of Clinical Interview for the Yakut Mentality Studies
The paper presents rationale for the choice of research method, taking into account not only the subject of the research, but also characteristics of the object of the research. Based on the features of the mentality of the Sakha people, which are referred to the «silence culture», we propose the method of semi-structured clinical interviews and interpretation of results using microsemantic analysis. It is suggested that the clinical interview will clarify specific cultural psychological constructs. To demonstrate the features of the method, the protocol analysis was presented. It is concluded that microsemantic analysis of the clinical interview allows to specify the meaning of responses, taking into account the specifics of the “silence culture”. It is shown that inclusion of an example of a specific act in the research programme allows to obtain not hypothetical or abstract, but real descriptors. The author concludes that consideration of an act as a semantic factor allows the researcher to highlight the key core of the researched problem.
