The article presents results of the study of the problem of social orphanhood and its conditioning factors. It also presents understanding of social orphanhood as a social phenomenon, which means that there is a large number of minors, who are deprived of parental care. The article describes socio-psychological characteristics of orphans and children deprived of parental care from the perspective of their socialization and accumulation of personal social experience.
