Differences in Generations’ Collective Memory: a Socio-Psychological Approach

The purpose of the study presented in the article is to investigate the collective memory features of four generations of Russians in relation to the current situation in the country. Presumably, the generations of baby-boomers, X, Y, and Z, differently assess Russian history periods and view them as possible models for the present, while socio-psychological characteristics of generations are associated with a certain modality of collective memory images.

Collective and Family Memory in the Context of “I and Others” Interaction

The article presents the results of theoretical analysis of the “collective memory” constructs as a repository of collective experience of a large group, represented in the meanings, symbols, images, cultural patterns, means, mechanisms of reproduction and translation of the past, and the “family memory” constructs as its kind in the context of a small group.

Collective Memory and Instances of Temporality

The goal of the research presented in the article is theoretical reflection of collective memory characteristics and its projections on different temporal modes – the past, the present and the future. The article presents the results of the theoretical reflection of collective memory as a sociocultural and socio-psychological phenomenon of being of a human and humankind, as well as its projections on different temporal modes – the past, the present and the future.
