Aged People in Mundane Consciousness of «Pragmatists’ Generation»: Emotional - Value Aspect of Responsibility
The article is dedicated to the problem of realizing responsibility for wellbeing of the aged people by the generation of 30-40 years old Russians. They are being called the «pragmatists’ generation» within social discourse and media quite often. The sources’ analysis has detected a number of problems being researched by science which deal with relationships between younger and older generations within Russian society. Among them are devaluation of old age in youths’ minds, increasing sociocultural distance, «Fathers and Sons» conflict etc. The authors have found that the image of elderly people promotes positive feelings in respondents. Among them – on top – pride, respect, confidence. Ambivalent and negative feelings shared by the «pragmatists» group have been found to be associated with worries for the wellbeing of the aged. The feelings’ modality depends on experience of respondents’ coexistence with the aged relatives. Apprehension of community with the aged generation within consciousness of 30–40- year olds is associated with their religious and citizen identity.
