The research of an emotional condition of students is the most important factor of training in higher education institution, a basis of formation of the identity of the expert and high professional suitability in the future. An objective of this research is the interrelation of quality of life and development of emotional intelligence of the student as subject of educational process.

The paper presents the results of a theoretical analysis of the category «quality of life», which help to identify the most significant areas of students’ activities at the university and to determine their basic needs in each of the identified areas. The paper gives the author’s interpretation of the scope of meaning of the category «quality of life».

The paper focuses on the problem of the optimization of students’ life quality. This article gives close attention to the main concepts and suggests principles to optimizing the students’ life quality in educational process in a high educational establishment.
